Tour Highlights:

Join us on this five day camping tour as we wind our way along the California Coast from San Francisco south to Santa Cruz and looping north through the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. 

For the first couple of days we ride along the fabled California Coast. From the coast we travel inland to the redwood filled valleys of the Santa Cruz Mountains. For our last two nights we camp underneath majestic redwoods and ride along ridge lines that offer amazing views of the Pacific and San Francisco Bay. 

This tour has several long climbs as we wind our way through the Santa Cruz Mountains. This route is the same as first five days of our California Explorer Tour. While no previous bike touring experience is needed, by the time your tour departs you should be able to comfortably complete a 50-60 mile ride with some hills. We strongly recommend mountain bike gearing on your road bike. We rent high quality Fuji road bikes with the proper gearing. 

Daily mileages for this tour are 38, 56, 42, 32, and 62 miles. On this tour we spend four nights in campgrounds with hot showers and one night in the Fort Mason Hostel where we have a private group room. Plan to arrive the evening before we begin riding.
