Tour Highlights:
The tour begins in the historic town of Baker City, Oregon. Baker City was a stopping point along the Oregon Trail and evolved into a bustling city during Oregon’s gold rush days. Today it is a down-to-earth town at the base of the Elkhorn Mountains. Over the course of seven days we travel around the Wallowa Mountains on quiet roads. Halfway through our journey we take a rest day along the shore of Wallowa Lake. From our campsite we can hike to an alpine lake or take a gondola to the top of Mount Howard (8,256 ft). On the remote East side of the Wallowa Mountains we’ll visit the rim of Hells Canyon. This canyon is 1 1/2 times deeper than the Grand Canyon. Visit the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area website for more info on this amazing place. When we return to Baker City you’ll have some new friends and great memories.
Daily mileages for this bicycle tour are 36, 60, 46, 44, 46, and 42 miles. This tour puts the adventure back into adventure cycling.
